FORMER DALLAS COP FACES NEW CHARGES

Theft, Perjury, Organized Crime Added To List In Fake Drug Scandal

DALLAS -- A former narcotics officer convicted in the fake drug
scandal that plagued the Dallas Police Department faces three new charges.

Mark De La Paz, 38, was indicted on charges of aggravated perjury,
engaging in organized criminal activity/forgery and theft by a public
servant, the district attorney's office announced Monday.

The charges are in connection to a 2001 scheme that sent innocent
immigrants to jail with faked drug evidence.
