US OR: CITY EMPLOYEES' BOLD STEP FOR DRUG-TESTING WILL HELP STOP METH

Congratulations to three of the four city employees' unions agreeing
to drug testing. This bold act of giving up a little bit of personal
liberty for a drug-free workplace is very refreshing to the whole community.

A Eugene spokesperson was "amazed" that the Salem employees agreed to
drug testing. We are not surprised at all. All individuals of
Salem/Marion County, and particularly the public sector, have been of
one voice in the No Meth -- Not in My Neighborhood effort.

The battle is still raging with the methamphetamine usage, along with
the unintended consequence of children. The community continues to
come together and the actions of the three city employees' unions
agreeing to undergo drug testing is another example.

On behalf of all Marion County residents, a special thank you for
taking this step. We encourage all public and private
employers/employees to follow this action.
