DRUG USE DROPPING IN PROVINCE'S SCHOOLS

Drug use has actually dropped slightly in Ontario schools even as
students believe its incidence to be rising, new research shows.

Data released yesterday show that 36 per cent of students are drug
free (a categorization that includes nicotine and alcohol), a rise
from 32 per cent the year before. In spite of that shift, though,
more than half of students believe that drug use is increasing.

By far the most common drug is alcohol, used by close to two-thirds
of students within the past year.
