RESPONSIBILITY IS KEY

How is smoking a joint after dinner in front of your kids any
different than having a beer or wine in front of them during dinner?
("Doing drugs with kids nothing but dopey," Stephen Lautens, Nov. 11)

Other than, of course, the drastic difference in the usual results --
severe impairment, loss of sense of duty and inhibition, sloppy
speech and behaviour -- none of which are caused by cannabis.

Responsibility is key. I can smoke five joints and do a better job of
parenting than most do straight.

My child is too young to understand illegality. I also can score
150-plus on an IQ test while fully stoned, but I don't feel the need
to spend my time writing about how parenting while straight and
stupid is wrong.

Get over this ill-informed fear of cannabis.
