MEDICAL POT, PIT BULLS ON AGENDA

Around City Hall

Medical Pot, Pit Bulls On Agenda

After months of studies, hearings and negotiations, regulations to
control The City's medical marijuana clubs will be considered
Tuesday. Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi's proposal would charge license
fees, prohibit sale of alcohol at the clubs, and require notification
of neighbors within 300 feet. Also, an ordinance that would require
pit bull owners to register their dogs with a permanent microchip and
another that would require every pit bull to be spayed or neutered
will be considered. The Board of Supervisors will meet in the
Legislative Chamber, City Hall at 2 p.m.

Better Neighborhoods Legislation Up For Vote

The Better Neighborhoods Plus legislation, meant to give neighbors
more input into development and developers more predictability, goes
to the Land Use Committee again Tuesday, most likely for a vote. The
legislation lays out a blueprint for how neighborhood planning should
proceed, including how to determine public benefits from private
developments. The meeting is at 1 p.m., Room 263, City Hall.

Officials To Revive Earthquake Program

Officials are reviving a program that studies the vulnerability of
The City's private buildings and the potential economic loss to San
Francisco's bottom line from a major earthquake. The Department of
Building Inspection is restarting a program frozen in 2003 the
Community Action Plan for Seismic Safety that will be the topic of
discussion at the Code Advisory Committee at 9 a.m. Wednesday in Room
2001 at 1660 Mission St. The program will continue to study how
earthquakes and possible subsequent fires could impact neighborhoods,
housing, jobs and the fabric of the economy as well as form policy
recommendations.
