METH PRESENTATION

Earlier this summer, I wrote to this newspaper about a powerful
presentation heard by the Washburn County Board of Supervisors
regarding methamphetamine use.

Since that letter, the Washburn County Criminal Justice Committee has
worked at putting together another powerful presentation called Meth
Awareness Night.

The presentation includes four main components: safety issues,
drug-endangered children, a recovering meth addict telling about is
struggles with meth, and a question-and-answer period for Circuit
Court Judge Eugene Harrington, District Attorney Michael Bitney,
Sheriff Terry Dryden, Parole Officer Mike O'Keefe and others.

This very important meeting will start at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct.
12, in the ballroom of Northwest Sport Complex (civic center) in
Spooner. Coffee, punch and cookies will be served.

The public is invited to come early to see exhibits and visit with
members of the Criminal Justice Committee.

Meth is a very dangerous chemical that impacts us all and will for
sometime to come with increased crime activity and special needs of children.
