RURAL RESIDENTS ASKED TO BE ON LOOKOUT FOR MARIJUANA GROW-OPS

This Column Is A Public Service Of The Hamilton Police Service, And Is
Compiled By Constable Ian McKellar

Now is the time when 'seedier' individuals locate large fields and
crops to plant their own marijuana crop.

Members of the Hamilton police drug unit are asking all citizens,
especially farmers in the rural areas to watch for suspicious
activities around fields and properties, such as:

- - unknown vehicles parked on the side of the road for short periods

- - foot paths in places where they are not normally present

- - open areas that allow maximum sunlight but are surrounded by large
trees, which provide optimum cover

- - chicken wire, bamboo and other items off to the side of pathways and
trails

The community is asked to help police nip this problem in the bud
now.

Those who observe such suspicious plants and activity, please call
905-546-3885.

To provide information about people responsible for the growth, call
Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS
