COPS ARREST SUSPECTED SUPPLIER OF DRUGS TO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

The Silay police yesterday seized about one kilo of dried marijuana
leaves with the arrest of an alleged supplier of prohibited drugs to
high school students in Silay City.

Arrested was Jun Lapag, alias Totong Lapag, who also tops the Silay
PNP order of battle of drug personalities.

The joint team of local policemen and 603rd Regional Mobile Group led
by PO3 Dante Victor Escorpion swooped down on the house of Deting
Lapag at Loney St. Brgy. Mambulac, Silay City. They were armed with a
search warrant issued by Judge Felipe Banzon.

Senior Inspector Samuel Mina, Silay police chief, yesterday said about
a kilo of suspected dried marijuana leaves was recovered from the room
of Lapag. Police investigations show that Jun Lapag was identified by
a student of the Dona Monserat Lopez Memorial High School who had been
arrested for peddling drugs, as his source of the marijuana being
distributed to his fellow students in the school.

Mina said the marijuana taken from Lapag was traced to a reported
marijuana plantation in Brgy. Canlusong, E.B. Magalona or in Purok
Sigay, Brgy. 2 poblacion, Bacolod City.

The arrest of Lapag and the recovery of the marijuana leaves from his
room took place about two days after Senior Supt. Charles Calima,
provincial police director, had led a drug awareness seminar at DMLHS
campus in Silay City.

Police investigations indicated that 20 students of DMLHS have been
identified as marijuana users.

Mina said one of them had already been found positive for drug
use.

On the other hand, Lapag, who is now locked up at the Silay PNP Jail,
was subjected to drug testing yesterday.

The raid on the house of Lapag was witnessed by Mambulac Brgy.
