KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED FOR BUMPER POT CROP

The OPP is asking residents to be on the lookout for potential outdoor
marijuana crops, as the summer's warm, dry weather has provided exceptional
growing conditions.

By noting the exact location of the grow op by way of emergency number,
numbers on telephone poles or any other identifier or landmark in the
immediate area, police say the public can help stop this year's crop from
making it to the street.

Police are also asking people to take down the make, model, colour and
licence-plate number of vehicles parked along isolated areas or along
concession roads that are adjacent to wood lots or reforestation areas,
along with the date and time they see the vehicle.

Growers traditionally seek out secluded locations to reduce the risk of
being seen by the public. These locations are often in open areas protected
by wood lots, have access from main roads and are near sources of water.
Some grow ops will be located in wooded areas where sunlight can shine
through the trees to allow plants to grow, while offering seclusion.

Anyone with information on the location of an outdoor marijuana grow is
asked to contact the OPP Provincial Communications Centre at
1-888-310-1122; the Southern Georgian Bay OPP at 526-3761, or Crime
Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
