CANADIANS SHOULDN'T TOLERATE U.S. ANTI-DRUG TACTICS

Re: The long arm of Uncle Sam, Aug. 20

For the love of freedom and Canadian integrity, please just say no to the
United States and its war on drugs.

I find it incredibly depressing to be looking to the citizens of another
country to stand up to my own government, but I think it is important that
Canadians understand that not all -- or even most -- Americans expect
Canada to give up its sovereignty so that the U.S. can bust more pot
smokers. I was disgusted, but not surprised, to read that the tragedy of
9/11 is the basis for encroachments across the border by U.S. law
enforcement, apparently with the cooperation of Canadian authorities. How
the terrorist acts of that day are avenged by arresting Canadians who sell
pot seeds, I am at a loss to say.

Likewise, how can future acts of wanton destruction be avoided by seizing
Canadian territory in the name of fighting reefer madness? Please,
Canadians, do not bend to the whims of the U.S. government on these
matters. What our government does in the U.S. in the name of fighting drugs
is well beyond the bounds of our own Constitution. Taking the fight to
Canada using the same brutal tactics should not be tolerated.
