SMOKING POT IS NOT A CULTURE

RE: CHRIS Buors's Aug. 14 letter. I'd like to point out to him that smoking
pot is neither a race, religion or creed, nor does it qualify as a culture.
Possession of pot is clearly identified as illegal and unlike going to
worship at a temple, the practice never was protected by our Constitution.
In addition to that, the Nazis were not only trying to eradicate the Jews,
they were in the habit of crushing any potential political opposition in
order to enforce their will. Niemoller was a threat in this way. May I ask
when was the last time any pot crusader had anything in mind politically
besides freeing the weed?
