HOME INVADERS STAB RESIDENT

A man was sent to hospital with stab wounds early Monday morning after a
botched marijuana grow rip and home invasion in Coquitlam.

At about 12:15 a.m., two men broke into a house in the 1900 block of
Wiltshire Avenue. One man was masked and armed with a gun, the other
brandished a knife.

The would-be robbers were confronted by a man who lived in the house, and
while the man struggled with the masked invader, the second man stabbed the
resident twice. The pair fled the house without taking anything.

The victim was taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe the home was targeted because of a marijuana grow
operation.

Police have two suspects, who are described as Caucasian, six feet to six
feet two inches tall, clean shaven with short brown hair. They were
described as being very similar looking, so much so that they could be
brothers.

The Coquitlam RCMP serious crime section is investigating the incident and
police are asking for the public's help. Anyone with information about this
home invasion is asked to call 604-945-1550 or, if you wish to remain
anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
