ARRESTS DAMAGE INTERNATIONAL DRUG RING

The Australian Federal Police and Argentine authorities say a joint
operation between the two countries has dealt a serious blow to an
international drug syndicate.

Two Australian residents were arrested today at Buenos Aires airport
as they were about to board a flight to Melbourne.

The man and woman, both in their 60s, allegedly had more than four
kilograms of cocaine stashed in their luggage and in a wheelchair.

On the Australian end of the operation, police raided homes in Sydney
and Melbourne, seizing property and arresting three men from Sydney's
south.

They are due to appear in court tomorrow to face charges of conspiracy
to import prohibited imports.
