US FIRM DONATES P5M FOR NEW ANTI-DRUG AGENCY BUILDING

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 11 will soon transfer to
a new building, whose construction will be funded by a private
American firm.

The Engineering Design and Consultancy (Endec) Inc., which is based in
the US, is donating around P5 million for the remodeling of the former
Economic Intelligence and Investigation Bureau (EIIB) of the
Department of Finance building located in front of the PDEA 11 office
inside Camp Domingo Leonor in Davao City.

During Wednesday's groundbreaking of the new PDEA office, Endec
president Harold Wolf said they expect the completion of the building
reconstruction within 14 weeks.

Wolf said the dilapidated two-storey EIIB building will be remodeled
into a one-storey building while the old PDEA 11 office will serve as
the agency's detention center.

Wolf said their company had already funded several building projects
in Mindanao particularly in Basilan and in Zamboanga since two years
ago.

Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte thanked the American firm for funding the
construction of the new PDEA office.

Duterte also committed to grant the request of PDEA chief Wilkins
Villanueva for funds for the purchase of furniture that will be used
in the new PDEA 11 office.
