Bergstein Bookmark: http://www.mapinc.org/meth.htm (Methamphetamine) SELL DRUGS IN DRUG STORES The News July 17 front page had a very well done article about the new law that will remove any cold or allergy remedies that contain pseudoephedrine from the normal over the counter sale in pharmacies, truck stops, grocery stores, etc. ("Allergy sufferers: Get ready to show ID"). This indeed was a long overdue move and will go a long way towards totally eliminating the manufacture of methamphetamine in the state of Michigan. I fully understand the reaction that grocers have to this burden placed upon them. There is really a very easy solution to this -- just make those products available in pharmacies only. Pharmacies have long had the requirement to contend with the registration of purchasers and identification of same for controlled substances. As a pharmacist of over 50 years standing, I am very glad to see this law passed. It would have only been better if it restricted the sale of products to licensed pharmacies. STUART J.
