TWO STUDENTS HAVE BEEN EXPELLED FOR DEALING DRUGS AT SCHOOL

Police were called in after the Methwold High School pupils, aged 14 and
15, were caught selling drugs on the school premises.

On Friday, the last day of term, school governors met and upheld
headteacher Denise Walker's decision to exclude the two boys permanently.

She said: "The two students . . . had contravened the school's drugs policy
by bringing illegal substances into school and supplying them to other
students. This decision was not taken lightly but it was agreed that the
health, wellbeing and safety of all the other students at the school were
paramount."

The students involved were in Years 9 and 10, and one is believed to have
been attending the school irregularly. Several other students have been
suspended for buying and smoking cannabis.

Police spokeswoman Beth Manning said: "We are investigating alleged drugs
offences at the school, which is co-operating fully with our inquiries."
