THANKS TO OUR LEADERS FOR HELPING FIGHT DRUGS

If the federal government doesn't see a need to help our local drug
problem, thank goodness we have the means by which to try and help
ourselves.

Recently, news trickled down from Capitol Hill that was discouraging
to the Marshall County Drug Enforcement Unit and our war on drugs.
Federal funding would be cut. But why?

Our local drug unit is fighting possibly one of the most important
battles to be fought on Sand Mountain today. They are taking on the
first generation of methamphetamine users, dealers and manufacturers.
This is a serious problem.

But not just here. This epidemic is affecting rural communities across
the nation.

Thankfully, our local governments have pledged their support to help
pick up some slack, but it's still not enough.

We thank these local city and county leaders for helping out since our
federal government has chosen to neglect this epidemic.

Choosing to overlook this problem now may just have the federal
government wondering in the coming years why they didn't do something
when it could have been controlled.
