THE RIGHT DIAGNOSIS

Here's further proof that Texas is on the right track with a new state
law restricting the sale of pseudoephedrine products. Tennessee passed
a law in May requiring medicine containing pseudoephedrine, the main
ingredient in methamphetamine, to be put behind store counters. Only
82 meth labs were busted in Tennessee in May, a significant decline
from the 134 meth labs broken up in May of last year. Similar success
has occurred in other states, including Oklahoma, which was the first
state to pass such a law. The Texas Legislature and Gov. Rick Perry
recently approved similar restrictions, and the smart money says Texas
will soon see the benefits.
