ANTI-DRUG VIDEO CLIP DURING HALF-TIME

ALOR STAR: When soccer players take their half-time break during football
matches, a five-minute video clip on the dangers of drug abuse will be
screened on the scoreboard.

This would be the scenario at future matches under a plan by the National
Anti-Drug Agency.

Deputy Internal Security Minister Datuk Noh Omar said his ministry, which
oversees the agency, would work with the Youth and Sports Ministry to start
this anti-drug drive as many youths watched football games.

He said both ministries had agreed on the plan which would be introduced soon.

"We plan to show a video clip on drug abuse on the giant scoreboard during
football matches.

"We hope to drive home our message to youths watching soccer games as they
are our target group," he said.

Noh said the agency had distributed pamphlets on the dangers of drugs
during football matches.

He said the agency was also working with Umno on a concert and exhibition
to drive home the anti-drug message.

The concert would kick-off at Jalan Masjid India in Kuala Lumpur on Feb 6
before moving on to other locations nationwide throughout the year.
