GRANT TO AID TREATMENT CENTER FOR ADOLESCENTS

A grant of $330,400 that will help build a residential facility for
adolescent substance abuse treatment was presented yesterday to the Alcohol
and Drug Addiction Services Board of Lucas County.

The Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services funds will be
used by Connecting Point to construct the 20-bed complex behind its offices
at 1212 Cherry St.

Jeff Deckebach, executive director of Connecting Point, said his agency
will now turn to foundations and other sources for contributions. So far,
about $500,000 has been raised for the nearly $2 million project.

Construction is planned to begin in the fall. Connecting Point is a
nonprofit private children's service agency in Lucas County. It provides
mental health, substance abuse treatment, and prevention services.
