TESTING NEEDED

Re: "School board should drop drug-testing plan" (editorial, Dec. 28).
Has the Courier-Post lost its mind? How can any responsible adult, with or
without children, see a disadvantage in random drug testing?
Congratulations to Washington Township for taking a stand for its
students. It's sad to think society calls for such a thing but it does.

If a student makes the wrong decision in "casually" using drugs, then
he or she better learn, while they're still in a secure environment,
that it is wrong. The Courier-Post does know drugs are illegal, right?
There often are horror stories about rehabilitation or even deaths as
a result of drugs in the newspaper.

It's people who use the word "casual" linked to drug usage in any
amount that reminds me why it's also wrong for anyone under 21 to
drink. It's illegal whether it's casual or not. I won't pretend to
know everything my children have done in the course of their lives,
but they know that their parents aren't accepting of excuses such as,
"it was a `casual' thing."

What's next for an editorial? "It was just casual sex. So what if they
caught a disease or now have a child. They'll figure it out later."

Let's work together in attempting to help kids do the right
thing.
