MLP ON DRUGS SITUATION

Importation and trafficking in drugs is one of the worst forms of crimes in
the world and the state should step up the fight against the drug industry,
Labour Party home affairs spokesman said yesterday.

In his message on the occasion of World No Drugs Day, which was marked
yesterday, Dr Gulia said one should reflect whether the country was being
effective enough in controlling this threat.

He stressed the importance of being vigilant on laws to ensure traffickers
would not benefit from circumstances.

Meanwhile the party's social solidarity spokesman, Marie Louise Coleiro,
urged drug victims to seek the necessary help. She expressed solidarity
with families affected by the problem, and also urged the government to
develop a structure which affords practical support to these families.

Both politicians expressed their appreciation to those who work to
eradicate drug problems.
