WPD TO DETOXIFY U-BELT OF DRUGGIES, PUSHERS

WESTERN Police District Director Pedro Bulaong has ordered his men to
coordinate with school security personnel at the University Belt as part of
efforts to combat the drug menace.

"Although the police and barangays are already working hard to combat the
drug menace, the anti-drug campaign should also involve school authorities,
parent-teachers associations as well as the citizenry," Bulaong said.
Bulaong stressed that school officials would have to play a major role in
the campaign against illegal drugs.

"You have to monitor your respective schools and your students as well as
the surrounding areas and report to us the drug users and pushers so we can
take appropriate action," Bulaong said.

As this developed, WPD spokesman Chief Insp. Floriano Agunod said narcotics
agents in civilian clothes would be deployed to the university belt to
monitor suspected pushers.

Earlier, Manila Mayor Lito Atienza urged school authorities to report cops
and barangay officials suspected of involvement in illegal drugs.

Atienza said cops found positive for drugs would be sacked from service.

Atienza and Bulaong said the full force of the law will be applied against
drug suspects.
