LEGALIZED DRUGS THE ONLY ANSWER

Editor:

In response to the letter from Judy Westcott on the subject of illegal drug
sales to children, there is one and only one way to reduce this
availability to children.

We must lobby our politicians to legalize drugs. That way, the merchants
who sell drugs can be monitored and controlled, unlike the illegal
merchants of today. Think of it this way: when alcohol was illegal in the
US last century, the bootleggers would sell to anyone, including kids.

When prohibition ended, the bootleggers vanished, and the sales to kids was
greatly reduced. Thus it will be with the currently illegal drugs when we
finally get real about the way we deal with these substances.
