NDLEA ARRESTS 25 DRUG TRAFFICKERS IN EKITI

Ado-Ekiti -- The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ekiti 
State has
arrested a total of 25 drug traffickers between January and March this
year and seized 305 kilogrammes of hard drugs.

The Commander of NDLEA in the State, Mr Victor Fadeyibi who disclosed
this durng the inauguration of Drug Free Club at Iworoko Community
High School, Iworoko-Ekiti said most of the traffickers who deal in
Indian hemp were arrested in Ado-Ekiti, Iluomoba-Ekiti, Ikole-Ekiti,
Efon-Alaaye and Igede-Ekiti.

Fadeybi said the agency has embarked on counselling programme with the
desire to reach the youths in secondary and tertiary institutions
through various drug awareness talks and the formation of drug free
clubs.

While describing drug trafficking as a crime and its abuse as a social
problem, the NDLEA boss appealed to parents and religious leaders on
the need to admonish their followers and wards to live drug-free lives.

According to Fadebiyi, the present level of drug abuse and trafficking
calls for the cooperation of all stakeholders including all tiers of
government, teachers, community and religious leaders.
