D.A.R.E. - WHAT IS IT? D.A.R.E., which stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education, is a 17-week curriculum taught by police officers to grade 5 and 6 students. The program is designed to help the students make better choices when it comes to drugs and violence. D.A.R.E. is not only a way for police officers to teach kids about the effects of drugs and violence, but also an opportunity to create a positive relationship between the police and local youth. The Military Police have been teaching D.A.R.E. at two local schools since last fall. Now that the hard work is over, it's time to celebrate! On Tuesday, 4 May 2004, forty students from two grade five classes at Dwight Ross will participate in a graduation ceremony in front of their families and invited guests, to honor their commitment to remain drugfree. A similar ceremony will be held at Ecole Rose des Vents on Thursday, 20 May 2004 for the grade 5 and 6 classes that will also be celebrating their efforts over the past several months. Congratulations to all! - --- MAP posted-by: Jay Bergstrom
