STUDENTS ARRESTED IN DRUG INVESTIGATION

The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service (CFNIS), a unit of
the CF Military Police, completed a two-month investigation last week
with the arrest of one adult and seven youths at General Panet High
School.

The arrests, made pursuant to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act,
relate to alleged possession and trafficking of marijuana, hashish and
other unidentified substances. The investigation is continuing in
cooperation with the Ontario Provincial Police, local military police,
and school authorities.

Charges are pending against one adult and three youths. The youths
cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act; however,
the identity of the adult will be released once charges are confirmed.

"This is a police initiated operation and we've been pleased to
cooperate with the police. We consider the school to be a safe
environment for the students and we are anxious to ensure it stays
that way," said Bryon Morris, General Panet High School
Vice-Principal.

"This investigation was undertaken to enforce Canadian law and
emphasizes our commitment to ensuring drug-free and safe learning
environments in our military communities," said Commander Steve Moore,
Deputy Provost Marshal for the CFNIS.

The CFNIS has a mandate to investigate serious and sensitive matters
in relation to National Defence property and CF personnel serving in
Canada and abroad.
