PEEL COP CHARGED IN THEFT OF COKE

A veteran Peel police officer who stored and looked after seized drugs is
facing several charges over $2.5 million in missing cocaine. Const. Martin
Goold, 59, was in court yesterday facing two counts of theft over $5,000,
two counts of possession of stolen property, breach of trust, fraud over
$5,000 and two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the
purpose of trafficking.

Six kilos of cocaine that is said to have a street value of $2.5 million
and some hashish were seized, police said.

"(The drugs) were being stored in our drug room and eventually they would
have been slated for destruction," Sgt. Todd Moore said.

Goold, a 29-year veteran, had been looking after the drug room for the past
five years.
