CHILD'S 911 CALL LEADS POLICE TO ALLEGED MARIJUANA GROW OPERATION, 'FILTHY'
CONDITION

Police have removed six children from a Richmond Hill home that was
allegedly being used as a marijuana grow operation.

The children ranged in age from 18 months to 15 years and were living in
"filthy" conditions. The beds were without sheets and smelled strongly of
urine. Police also noticed the smell of marijuana, a statement released
yesterday said.

Police obtained a search warrant and allegedly discovered 22 marijuana
plants, 122 marijuana stems and 56 pounds of dried and packaged marijuana
in a refrigerator. Also seized was a .45-calibre gun, pepper spray and a
locked safe.

Police were led to the house after one of the children, age nine,
telephoned 911. A 35-year-old woman, Lucia Denobrega, and a 36-year-old
man, Dino Pepe, have been arrested and will face charges of producing and
possessing an illegal substance. The children are in the care of a relative.
