INANE DRUG POLICIES HAVE GOTTEN OUT OF CONTROL

I am a sophomore at Kent State University. I also qualify for full
financial aid to assist me in my pursuit of a higher education.

Earlier this month, I was arrested for smoking marijuana. I have never
before been arrested, nor did I have marijuana or paraphernalia in my
possession. Because of my ignorance of the judicial system, and a
night in the county jail, I pleaded guilty - fearful that to do
otherwise would mean a longer jail stay. Afterward, I learned that it
was an unjailable offense, but because I am now a convicted drug user,
I will no longer be able to receive government financial aid.

Had I murdered someone or robbed a bank, I would still be eligible for
financial aid. There is something seriously wrong with this policy.
