PRISON SENTENCING SKEWED

I was very troubled to read the accounts of two men in separate court
cases. It made me ask myself: Where are our priorities?

A 30-year-old Milwaukee man gets one year in jail and eight years probation
for felony sexual assault of an 18-year-old student. A Spring Green man
gets 16 years in federal prison for growing marijuana in his basement.

I would much rather see a violent rapist in prison for 16 years -- it keeps
him away from our wives, daughters and loved ones. Seize the property of
the dealer, everything except the shirt on his back. Let him sit in jail
for a few years and then busted and penniless, let him out to start over
again. His earlier release will not put your kids or wife in jeopardy.
