GROW-OP MORE THAN CHICKEN FEED

A million-dollar marijuana grow-op was busted by Chilliwack RCMP officers
Wednesday at a chicken farm on Bailey Road.

The "very sophisticated" grow-op, believed the largest ever in Chilliwack,
was housed in a house and two two-storey chicken barns on the farm, says
RCMP Cpl. Sean Sullivan.

A loaded 44 Magnum handgun, reported stolen from Kamloops in 1994, was also
found along with 6,708 marijuana plants when a search warrant was executed
on the property in the 47000-block Bailey Rd.

Two Maple Ridge men, both 25, were expected to appear in court yesterday
(Thursday) to face drug- and firearm-related charges.

"There's no evidence to suggest how long it's been running, but definitely
for several months," says Cpl. Sullivan. "We're confident they already
harvested one crop."
