TWO COCAINE SYNDICATE MEMBERS JAILED

A man known to police as a major drug trafficker was one of two men
sentenced today to lengthy prison terms for conspiring to import 120
kilograms of cocaine.

Bruce 'Snapper' Cornwell, 58, has been sentenced to 24 years in jail and
James Herbert Bolus, 69, to 10 years for their roles in the attempt to
smuggle the drugs into Australia in a shipping container in 2001.

The men are the last of eight members of a highly organised syndicate to be
sentenced over the incident.

It ends a long investigation into the crime syndicate, which began with the
then National Crime Authority in 2000.

Cornwell was identified as a major drug trafficker in two seperate Royal
Commissions, in 1979 and 1984.
