TWENTY CHARGED IN COCAINE TRAFFICKING INVESTIGATION

Meadow Lake Progress -- Meadow Lake RCMP has released additional details 
surrounding the 15-month investigation into cocaine trafficking in and 
around Meadow Lake communities.

Investigations have led to more than 50 charges against 20 individuals 
alleged to be involved in the cocaine trade in northwest Saskatchewan and 
parts of Alberta.

The investigation began after police received information that cocaine was 
being trafficked in the communities of Meadow Lake, Green Lake, Beauval and 
Ile a la Crosse.

Police have siezed over $36,000 dollars worth of cocaine in the course of 
the investigation led by Meadow Lake RCMP and assisted by police agencies 
in Alberta and North Battleford.

All the individuals have been charged with trafficking in cocaine and 
possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.

[NAMES DELETED] will appear in the Meadow Lake Provincial Court.

Former Meadow Lake resident [NAME DELETED] is wanted on a warrant after 
failing to appear in court.

[NAME DELETED] of Meadow Lake was remanded in custody until Nov. 29, while 
[NAMES DELETED] will appear in court for trial on Dec. 7.

[NAMES DELETED] are scheduled for their preliminary inquiry in Battleford.

A 39-year-old former Meadow Lake resident and a 43-year-old female from 
Edmonton charged with similar offences are on warrant status.

Other individuals who have been charged in connection with the case include 
[NAMES DELETED].
