LPD SWOOPS DOWN ON DRUG RING

The LPD has singlehandedly dismantled a major drug ring which had been
keeping ecstasy, marijuana, cocaine and even Viagra flowing through
Laval.

Eleven people were arrested on October 14 as police conducted 10
simultaneous seizures in Laval, Montreal, Ste-Anne-des-Plaines and
Pointe Calumet.

The LPD's Vice and Narcotics squad, SWAT team and canine units were
involved in the drug-trafficking sting, along with dozens of uniformed
and plainclothes officers.

The search warrants were executed at seven private homes in Laval, one
each in Montreal, Ste-Anne and Pointe Calumet, as well as a used car
lot in Laval.

The value of the marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, and firearms discovered
by the LPD is well over $100,000."

We're very glad to get these drugs off the street," said Constable
Pierre Desautels of the LPD. He said that a Hells Angels affiliated
biker gang known as the Road Warriors is believed to be behind the
ring.

"It was a very active and organized drug network, operating 24 hours a
day using pagers," Desautels said. The ring's clients could call and
have drugs delivered right to their door, the LPD has determined.

The eight men and three women were being questioned by police, and
were all expected to be charged with several drug and weapons
possession offences.

The raids came following a year-long LPD investigation.
