POLICE WARN DRUG GROWERS

POLICE have reminded drug growers they will not be shown any leniency
following the discovery of four marijuana plantations in the Navosa
Highlands.

Acting Assistant Superintendent Kolinio Vunaki said the police
tactical response team made the discovery during routine exercises in
the area.

ASP Vunaki said the team uprooted 1199 plants ranging from six inches
to five feet.

"Owners of the farms could not be established but samples were
submitted to the Government Analyst for verification," he said.

He said since the team had arrived in Navosa two weeks ago, they had
arrested nine people in connection with drugs and uprooted 8032
marijuana plants from eight farms.

ASP Vunaki said police were not going to tolerate those found
responsible for the cultivation of drugs because it continued to harm
the country's younger generation.

"Police operations in drugs will never end but it will be a consistent
event to help build a drug-free society for our country.

"Those found in the industry will be dealt with accordingly," ASP
Vunaki said.

He said the Police Tactical Team was being helped by the Western
Police Operation team in Navosa.
