DRUG USE STUDY AT UCC

An addictions specialist will look into drug and alcohol use at B.C.'s
newest university.

Jim Cullen, a social work professor specializing in addictions, plans
to study substance abuse at the University College of the Cariboo.
"It'll be a survey of university students to look at their alcohol and
drug patterns - patterns of use and problem use."

Cullen, who recently arrived at UCC from Ryerson University in
Toronto, is in the preliminary stages of the study and has met with
The Phoenix Centre to discuss a possible partnership.

The study will probably take place in the winter and Cullen is
approaching it with impartiality.

"I'm keeping an open mind and we'll see what happens."
