LEGALIZING CANNABIS IS A WIN/WIN SITUATION

I appreciate the point that Kirk Muse was making in his letter titled
Legalizing Pot Creates A Weed Worth Gold (Aug 12). It's the
prohibition of cannabis that has artificially driven the price up to
that of an ounce of gold.

When cannabis is legalized, again the price will come down
exponentially. This is a primary reason for the U.S. and possibly the
Canadian government's interest in maintaining marijuana's criminal
status.

Once legalized, not only will cannabis be of far less value but, for
that reason, organized crime will want nothing to do with it.
Criminals and police will have no reason to battle over it, hence
fewer people get killed and imprisoned. Legalizing cannabis is a
win/win situation.
