MARIJUANA MESSAGE MISSED, SAYS MOM

Re: 'Marijuana advocates unite'; July 13, Lacombe Globe

Dear Editor,

I see my point has been clearly missed by most. My objection being
that my son was "not" fined for an illegal substance, yet if he had a
bottle of liquor he would have received an "illegal possession" ticket.

Cigarettes and liquor are legal for adults to purchase and
use.

The dope dealers don't care who they sell to; they don't ask for age
identification, which is one way we try to keep cigarettes and liquor
away from minors.

I don't care who or why people smoke marijuana, cigars or cigarettes
or drink liquor. That is entirely up to them. Smoking is smoking.

Most of the users I know are hard working, responsible people who use
common sense in their leisure-time activity.

Most teenagers do not use common sense. They smoke this and drink that
at any time during the day, and to excess.

If it is illegal for my son to buy/smoke cigarettes--to buy/drink
liquor--then it should be illegal for him to buy/smoke or "possess"
marijuana and, for that matter, any "illegal substance".
