LIMBAUGH SEEKING ONLY FAIR TREATMENT

In response to Jay Bookman's column ("Limbaugh strikes blows he can't
take," Jan. 5): Rush Limbaugh has accepted full responsibility for
his actions. He has completed a detoxification and rehabilitation program
and has never denied accusations that he was dependent on prescription pain
medication. His complaint is not with the fair arm of the law, but rather
with bad-faith leaks and unequal treatment by representatives of the law.

Bookman's claim that Limbaugh "seeks a protection that he would deny
others" is flat wrong. Limbaugh is entitled to the same rights afforded
others and has not called for different treatment. On the contrary, he and
I have called attention to his being singled out for special and harsher
prosecution. Calling a public official to account does not mean an
unwillingness to accept responsibility for one's actions.
