GET OVER IT

I am writing in regard to the recent front-page article, "No jail for pot
possession." Is there any winning with the government?

I won't deny that I smoke pot, and I am very glad that I won't suffer from
jail time or a criminal record; but my problem is with the $245 million
(taxpayers' dollars, I may add) to create a program to curb marijuana use.
Pardon? If you've lowered the bar for small-time users, why would they want
to curb the habit? Catch-22.

The $245 million could be going to schools, to help the homeless or abuse
survivors and victims. But no, pot is evil!

Pot is not addictive and does not kill, but cigarettes do. Also, asking for
a blood test to determine whether a person is "under the influence of pot"
is crossing the line. But drinking and driving kills. When is everyone going
to get over it and deal with it?

I'm a university student going for my BA, and I can name several geniuses I
know who use more pot than I. Get over it!
