Officers from the OPP Biker Enforcement Unit, Emergency Response Teams, RIDE and SAVE units as well as the auto theft unit policed the festivities outside of Trudeau Park. In a statement issued Tuesday, OPP spokeswoman Darlene Eastman said 5,000 vehicles were checked going in and out of the park by officers. A series of charges were laid by police including three impaired driving charges. Fourteen other motorists received 12-hour driving suspensions. Two people were charged with assault, and one possession charge was laid for a prohibited weapon. A set of brass knuckles was also seized. Six personal injuries connected to vehicle collisions happened inside the park, said police. Nine charges were laid for drug possession and purpose of trafficking and a quantity of marijuana and cocaine was seized. A further 49 charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act including driving while suspended and non-regulation motorcycle helmets. Another 45 charges were laid under the Liquor Licence Act and nine more under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. - --- MAP posted-by: Beth
