DAY IN THE HOUSE

Wellington: When Parliament sat at 2pm yesterday two reports of the 
privileges committee were presented, relating to information supplied by 
New Zealand Post to the finance and expenditure committee and on three 
questions of privilege concerning disclosure of select committee proceedings.

The report of the transport and industrial relations committee on the 
financial review of the Maritime Safety Authority was also presented.

Ministers answered 12 questions and Parliament began debating the first 
reading of the Families Commission Bill. The Bill was given its first 
reading and referred to the social sciences select committee.

MPs began debating the third reading of the Resource Management Amendment 
Bill (No 2). The Bill was given its third reading.

Parliament began debating the first reading of the Ngati Tama Claims 
Settlement Bill. The Bill was given its first reading and referred to the 
Maori Affairs select committee.

MPs began debating a Government notice of motion on reclassification of drugs.

Only the Greens opposed the Misuse of Drugs (Changes to Controlled 
Substances) Order, which reclassifies methamphetamine as a Class A drug.

Parliament adjourned at 9.53pm and will resume at 2pm today.
