MORE POT COMES FROM MEXICO

I CAN'T understand why the Bush administration is getting its panties in a
twist over Canada's proposal to drop criminal sanctions against those who
possess minor amounts of pot. This administration should be reminded that
Canada is a sovereign nation and that the United States has no business in
the internal affairs of that nation.

Whatever Canada's national aspirations are, it is for the Canadian people
to decide what their destiny will be. More pot comes into the United States
from Mexico than from anywhere else. But I don't hear of any great hue and
cry about this situation from the administration. Now, the administration
is considering limiting Canadian exports to the United States as punitive
action should the Canadian Parliament revise its drug laws to decriminalize
pot.

Canada is a very dear friend to the United States. We should begin treating
our neighbours to the north as such.

Earl Beal,

Terre Haute, Indiana

(The Canadian government hasn't decriminalized pot yet.)
