DEA DOWN SCHEDULED MARINOL

Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) spokesman Will Glaspy is going to increase 
security along the border because marijuana is a Schedule 1 illicit drug? 
("O Cannabis," April 27.)

Remind Mr. Glaspy that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved 
Delta-9-THC, the active and most demonized ingredient in marijuana, as 
Marinol in 1986. It is so safe that the DEA down scheduled Marinol in 1999 
to Schedule 3.
