PROBLEMS WITH DRUG LAWS

To the Cigar,

There are all these different drugs are out there, but if nobody really
knows how much of what is in what, or how much of what to take, why do we
have laws against them? Wouldn't it be better if adults of legal age could
simply go to the pharmacy show some ID and get whatever pure drug they want?

The persons usage patterns could be monitored and if a problem was seen
arising it could be dealt with by health care professionals with medical
degrees, not honors from the gun range.

To combat the spread of these drugs to minors, a harmless marker of some
kind could be put into the drugs of a person who is suspected of
bootlegging the legal drugs to minors. If a person's individually assigned
marker showed up in dope confiscated from a minor that person would be in
trouble. Or if that marker turned up in someone who had been drugged then
hurt or raped the person would be in trouble.

Of course that means that we would have to apply this process to alcohol
because we all know that we have done some stupid shit while pissed up.
This may even include having sex with someone whom you would never have sex
with even if it meant keeping the human race alive. That in and of itself
may not constitute rape but don't tell me that many women don't get raped
after a night of boozing. Maybe raped is a strong term, but I've seen many
a drunken girl hanging off some sly stranger on her way to god knows where
and what.

It's nice to give people information and awareness about these drugs.
Massive change needs to happen to our continent's drug laws. The government
cannot legislate morality. Prohibition has never worked and never will,
when are we going to start looking at the big picture?
