PROHIBITION SUPPORT BASED IN MYTH

Dear Editor:

Reading the letter from Brian Lowe in the March 7 edition of the Echo, I
could not help but contrast his rambling, semi-coherent scribblings with
the concise, well-written and well-thought-out letter from Alan Randell
which he denigrates.

The truth is that many of his neighbours come home from work and relax with
a toke, rather than a drink. Cannabis users cause relatively few problems
for society or themselves and use the medical facilities no more than
anyone else.

Mr. Lowe would do well to acquaint himself with the facts before he puts
his words in the paper.

His ignorance is, sadly, all too common, and so unnecessary in this day and
age. He could read the excellent book entitled Marijuana Myths Marijuana
Facts by Lynn Zimmer, Ph.D. and John P. Morgan, M.D. or he could look at
the Internet site www.drugwarfacts.com and www.drugwardistortions.com for
information.

I urge everyone to do so.
