'DON'T DEPORT KUBBY FOR TRYING TO STAY ALIVE'

Having read the letters from fellow readers in Friday's Province, I was
surprised at some of the conclusions they reached regarding U.S. citizen
Steve Kubby's application for refugee status in Canada.

Marijuana is the only therapy for his adrenal cancer, yet his government is
going to throw him in jail for this prescribed medication.

While it may be easy to stereotype Kubby as a typical pot-smoker, it's not
true.

Should an AIDS patient be denied medication, just because we don't
understand the treatment? No.

Just as Kubby should not be deported for doing something he needs to stay
alive.
