CALLOUS ABOUT KILLING

It shocks the conscience that someone who has raised a child could
write something as callous as the letter "Don't be fooled by age"
(Feb. 15) about Ashley Villarreal, who was shot by DEA agents.

I certainly knew how to start a car at 14 and occasionally took short
drives around my neighborhood, accompanied by an adult. I don't
believe this is an unusual practice.

That letter writer Terry Lambert is able to construe underage driving
into a nefarious, conspiratorial activity is bizarre. To imply that
this in any way justifies the death of a young girl is less than human.
