MAJOR DRUG BUST INCLUDES GRAND BEND

GRAND BEND - Included in a list of people charged in a huge drug bust
in Sarnia and Lambton County, were two Warwick Street residents.

Last week, officers from the Windsor Unit of the Ontario Provincial
Police Drug Enforcement Section and the Sarnia Police Service arrested
and charged 27 adults and one young person with 135 drug-related
offences, and seized more than $767,069.50 worth of illegal drugs
destined for Sarnia, and Lambton County.

Through the investigation undercover officers successfully purchased
Ecstasy (MDMA), Cannabis, Marihuana, Cannabis Resin, Hashish,
Psilocybin, Cocaine Powder, Crack Cocaine, and Percocet Tablets.

The charges follow the execution of eight Controlled Drugs and
Substance Act search warrants in Toronto, London, Grand Bend, and
Sarnia last Thursday. This action is the culmination of a 12-month
undercover investigation into illicit drug activity in which police
agencies combined their efforts to target street-level and mid-level
drug traffickers.

A 26-year-old Grand Bend man is charged with three counts of
Trafficking in a Controlled Substance; three counts of Possession of
proceeds of Crime and one count of Possession of Prohibited Weapon. A
39-year-old Grand Bend woman is charged with three counts of
Possession for the Purpose. There are six outstanding arrest warrants
for persons who cannot be located.
